The Communication area will allow you to send email, view student web pages, participate in synchronous (real-time) and asynchronous (different time) communication.

Your communication tools will allow you to interact with your instructor and other students. The following list briefly describes the tools features.

Announcements - This function is also located in My Blackboard and is generally the opening page for your course. This is where your instructor will make any announcements. You can choose to view announcements posted today or posted within the last 7 or 30 days. Click the Announcements link to read your announcements

Send E-mail - This is a quick way to send e-mail to either your instructor or your fellow classmates.

Collaboration - This is a synchronous chat room that you can participate in real time or live discussions with other members of your course.

Roster - This is a list of all the students' names and email addresses in the course

Group Pages - Your instructor may divide students into groups for certain projects or assignments. If you are a member of a group, you will have a discussion board and virtual classroom for only members of your group.

Discussion Board - This is an asynchronous way to communicate with other in your course. Messages and related discussions can be 'posted' in this forum for the entire class to access them
