Harding Wins National Championship for
LETU
PANAMA
CITY,
FL
– Adam Harding
(Boca
Raton,
FL/Spanish
River
HS),
of LeTourneau
University,
won the National Christian College Athletic Association men’s golf national
championship by three strokes over the defending champion on Tuesday
afternoon.
Harding posted an even par round on Tuesday that followed his two-under
par round on Monday. He came into
today’s final round tied with last year’s champion, Ryan Higton of Master’s
College. “Adam managed his game
wonderfully,” said head coach Andy Woodring.
Harding is the first men’s golf national champion to play for the
YellowJackets. He tied the
YellowJacket 18-hole record on Monday with his round of 70 and set the 36-hole
record with a 142 for the championship.
Harding and the rest of the field battled blustery conditions on Tuesday
as the weather turned a bit nasty.
“He hit the ball solidly throughout and was able to stay in control and
make just enough putts to win,” said Woodring.
Harding and his teammates placed fourth out of 19 teams at the national
championship event. The
YellowJackets shot a two-day score of 611, 12 shots behind champion Master’s
College, and NAIA power from California. “I am very proud of Adam and the whole
team,” said the coach.
