McCrary and Kok Lead LETU Golf at
TLU
SEGUIN,
TEXAS
– Nate McCrary (Longview/Spring Hill
HS) and Lisa Kok (Lynden, WA/Lynden
Christian HS) were the top finishers for the
LeTourneau
University
men’s and women’s golf teams at the Texas Lutheran University Fall Classics
completed on Tuesday.
McCrary shot a YellowJacket record 18-hole round of two-under par 70 in
the opening round of the invitational.
Over the 54-hole event, McCrary shot a school record three-over par 219
to finish tied for 14th.
Adam Harding
(Boca
Raton,
FL/Spanish
River
HS),
Josh Rutland (Gladewater/Sabine HS)
and Doug Moorehead
(Hamilton,
OH/Hamilton
HS)
rounded out the scoring for the YellowJackets; Harding shot a 225,
Rutland
a 227 and Moorehead a 228. “The
previous school record was 228, so I feel very good about our team with four
guys matching that score,” said head coach Andy
Woodring.
The YellowJackets finished tied for sixth in the team standings with a
54-hole school record 896. The team
finished tied for fourth among the American Southwest Conference teams. “We wanted to gauge where we stood in
the conference and in all NCAA Division III. I think we earned some respect from this
performance. Teams know that we
could go out and win now,” said Woodring.
Kok led the LadyJackets with a two-day total of 164, which was good
enough to tie for 10th place.
The team finished in 8th place overall in the 36-hole event.
