Sanders Races Well at NCAA Regional
Meet
ATLANTA,
GEORGIA
– LeTourneau
University
freshman cross country runner Heidi
Sanders (Sugar Land/Stephen F. Austin HS) finished in 35th place
overall in the NCAA South Regional Cross Country Invitational held on the campus
of Emory University on Saturday morning.
Sanders became the first LeTourneau runner to compete at an NCAA regional
event. She finished the hilly 6K
course in a time of 25:18. She was
second among all American Southwest Conference runners, an improvement from her
third place finish at the conference meet.
The experience gained from competing this year should prove to be
invaluable in the future for Sanders.
The South Regional meet will be held at the same location next year. “She ran very well and I’m very proud of
her. I think she knows what to
expect now and next year she should do even better,” said coach Minnette
Langley.
Sanders had a superb year for the LadyJackets. She finished in the top ten in every
race she ran, except in the regional meet.
She is also a member of the LadyJacket basketball team that is preparing
for its first game on Friday night at home against the
University
of Dallas
at 7
p.m.
