Travels
Falls
to Millsaps, 2-0
MARSHALL, TEXAS – The LeTourneau University women’s
soccer team controlled the game for 80 minutes, but Millsaps College, behind
star midfielder Claire Panter, pulled away for a 2-0 victory on Saturday
afternoon.
The LadyJackets (1-1) managed 19 shots on the afternoon,
but were turned away every time by Majors’ goalkeeper Mary Raines. Senior T.C. Willis (Carrollton/R.L.Turner HS)
took eight shots herself, but could not find the back of the net. Freshman midfielder Erica Crim (Henderson/Henderson HS)
created many of the opportunities for the team and played well on the
outside.
Millsaps (1-2) played a conservative game until 10
minutes remained in the game. That
was when Panter took over the game.
First, she made a fantastic move and scored at the 79:58 mark of the game
and then 24 seconds later she issued a brilliant pass to Amanda Paschall who
scored to put the Majors up 2-0, the eventual final
score.
The
LadyJackets’ freshman goalkeeper, Julie
Kohn (Cuyahoga
Falls,
OH/Cuyahoga
Falls
HS)
was superb until Panter scored.
Kohn was credited with nine saves on the afternoon. Raines saved 10 shots for the
Majors.
The LadyJackets have 10 days of rest before they play
again. The conference and home
schedule starts on Tuesday, Sept. 16 in a doubleheader with the men against UT
Tyler.
