LadyJackets Tie Ozarks,
2-2
CLARKSVILLE, ARKANSAS – Despite Becci Vogel’s (Brooklyn Park, MN/West
Lutheran HS) goal and assist and out shooting the University of the Ozarks,
16-11, the LeTourneau University women’s soccer team was only able to play to a
2-2 tie on Saturday afternoon.
The LadyJackets (4-8-2, 3-7-2) trailed the Eagles
(4-10-1, 2-8-1), 1-0, in the first half after Lindy Swatzell scored her seventh
goal of the season at the 34:39 mark of the game. Freshman defender Becci Vogel tied the game up two
minutes before halftime when she scored her first career goal for the
LadyJackets.
The LadyJackets continued the offensive pressure in the
second half and LeTourneau career goals record holder Stevi Peace (Longview/Jakarta
International) knocked one past the Eagles defense after she received a
great pass from Vogel at the 66:56 mark of the
game.
The
game appeared to be in the hands of the LadyJackets until Ember Smith headed in
a crossing pass from Nicole Simpson with 2:20
remaining in regulation to tie the game up at two for the
Eagles.
Neither
team was able to find the back of the net in the two overtimes. Goalkeeper Julie Kohn
(Cuyahoga
Falls,
OH/Cuyahoga
Falls
HS)
recorded four saves for the LadyJackets.
Vogel has a goal and three assists on the season and Peace has a
team-high 10 goals on the season for the
LadyJackets.
