LadyJackets Fall to Austin College, 5-3

SHERMAN, TEXAS – The LeTourneau University women’s soccer team displayed resiliency in their effort to come from behind against Austin College, but came up short in a 5-3 loss on Friday afternoon.

The LadyJackets (4-8-1, 3-7-1) found themselves behind 3-0 and 4-1, before closing the gap to 4-3 with 30:52 remaining in the game.  Tresy Ross finished off the LadyJackets with her third goal of the game for the Kangaroos (7-7-1, 6-3-1) at the 66:37 mark of the game.

T.C. Willis (Carrollton/R.L Turner HS) put the LadyJackets on the board 33:01 into the contest when she scored on a penalty kick, her fifth goal of the season.  Austin College managed to add their fourth goal of the game four minutes before halftime when Mary Carrier scored off a Colleen Walsh pass.

LadyJacket head coach Pedro Blanco made some changes at halftime and the team came out fired up and ready to go.  Erica Crim (Henderson/Henderson HS) scored her third goal of the season 1:41 into the second half to cut the lead to 4-2.  Stevi Peace (Longview/Jakarta International) took a pass from Willis and raced in for a score to slice the lead to one with over 30 minutes remaining to play.  The LadyJackets were unable to tie up the score.

The Kangaroos outshot the LadyJackets 21-11 and took 11 corner kicks compared to just one for LeTourneau.  Julie Kohn (Cuyahoga Falls, OH/Cuyahoga Falls HS) recorded six saves for the LadyJackets.  Peace’s goal gives her a team-high nine on the season.
