LETU Falls to ETBU, 3-1
LONGVIEW, TEXAS – The LeTourneau University women’s
soccer team fell to American Southwest Conference East Division rival East Texas
Baptist University on Tuesday night, 3-1.
The
LadyJackets (4-7-1,
3-6-1)
had several opportunities to score that were turned away by Lady Tigers’
goalkeeper Jori Herington.
LadyJacket senior Stevi Peace
(Longview/Jakarta International) had four chances stonewalled by
Herington.
The
Lady Tigers (7-7, 5-5) scored twice in the first 20 minutes. Cassie Woodard scored 10:23
into the contest when she fired a shot from the 18-yard line past LETU
goalkeeper Julie Kohn
(Cuyahoga
Falls,
OH/Cuyahoga
Falls
HS). Wendi Wooley scored 10 minutes later
when she lofted a free kick into the back of the net. ETBU’s final goal came with 52 seconds
left in the first half when Brooke Adair bended a corner kick into the
goal.
The
LadyJackets controlled the second half and attacked the goal with abandon. They out shot the Lady Tigers 12-4 in

broke through for the LadyJackets when she headed a pass from Becci Vogel
(Brooklyn
Park,
MN/West
Lutheran HS)
past Herington.
Herington stood strong for the Lady Tigers throughout the
second half and came up with a number of saves that kept the LadyJackets at
bay. Herington finished the game
with nine saves and Kohn finished with three saves.
The LadyJackets and Lady Tigers were battling for ASC
East Division standing. ETBU
remains in fifth place and LETU sits in sixth
place.
