LETU Women’s Soccer Falls to UT Tyler

            TYLER, TEXAS – The LeTourneau University women’s soccer team was involved in a defensive battle against American Southwest Conference East Division rival UT Tyler on Saturday afternoon, but came up short in a 1-0 loss.

            The LadyJackets (4-6-1, 3-5-1) were led by goalkeeper Julie Kohn (Cuyahoga Falls, OH/Cuyahoga Falls, HS).  Kohn registered seven saves and faced an onslaught of 21 shots total.  The only goal that the Lady Patriots were able to sneak past Kohn came when Lindsay Lyle dished off to Leigh Garner and Garner put the ball past a diving Kohn at the 35:09 mark of the first half.      

            The defense of Cynthia Garcia (El Paso/Socorro HS), Katie Reffitt (Granville, OH/Granville Christian), Priscila Schoenborn (Milwaukee, OR/Highland HS) and Becci Vogel (Brooklyn Park, MN/West Lutheran HS) were superb and made several stops of their own the keep the team in the game.

            The Lady Patriots (7-6, 5-5) were able to keep Stevi Peace (Longview/Jakarta International) in check this time.  Last time the two teams met, Peace scored two goals, including the game winner with less than four minutes to play in the game.

            The LadyJackets also lost to UT Dallas on Friday night, 3-0.  Next up for the team is a home match on Tuesday night against arch-rival East Texas Baptist at 5 p.m.
