TWENTY-FIVE ‘JACKETS NAMED TO ALL-ACADEMIC
SQUAD
RICHARDSON, TEXAS – The American Southwest Conference announces
recognition of 320 student-athletes and support staff student assistants on its
spring 2004 All-Academic honor roll.
LeTourneau
University placed 25
student-athletes on the honor roll.
The spring ASC All-Academic awards include 297 student-athletes from the
sports of baseball, golf, softball, tennis and track and field, as well as 23
student assistants in athletic training and sports information. All 16 ASC
member institutions listed representatives on the spring 2004 honor
roll.
Each of LeTourneau’s spring sports programs placed at least two members
on the honor roll. The baseball
team led the way with nine players, softball added seven and women’s golf had
three honorees while men’s tennis, women’s tennis and men’s golf each had two
players earn the honor. Seniors
Samantha Castillo (Weslaco,
TX) and Lisa
Kok (Lynden,
WA) each earned
their third such award. Six others;
junior Derek Fitchett (Sandpoint, ID), junior April Hamilton (Henderson, TX),
senior Stevi Peace (Jakarta, Indonesia), senior Stephanie Ray (Gilmer, TX),
senior Mike VanBrocklin (Spring, TX) and junior Demetri White (The Woodlands,
TX) earned their second spring ASC Academic award.
To be eligible for ASC All-Academic honors, student-athletes must have
lettered in the spring 2004 season, be in at least their second academic year at
their institution, and carry a career grade-point average (GPA) of 3.00 or
better. Student assistants in athletic training and sports information are
recommended by their directors and carry a career grade-point average of 3.20
(athletic trainer) or 3.00 (sports information).

ASC All-Academic Award
Winners
RICHARDSON, TEXAS –
LeTourneau University placed 15 student-athletes on the
American Southwest Conference Fall 2003 All-Academic list. Overall, 311 student-athletes from the
16 colleges and universities are among the individuals recognized on the ASC
All-Academic honor roll. The teams were
announced Monday (Nov. 24) by the conference office and include the sports of
cross country, football, soccer and volleyball.
There were two student-athletes on the ASC Basketball 2003-04 All-Academic list. The
honorees were Randy Aram and Leigh Vickery.
To be eligible for ASC All-Academic honors, student-athletes must have
lettered in the fall 2003 season, be in at least their second academic year at
their institution and carry a career grade-point average (GPA) of 3.00 or
better.
