Weld Engineer

LeTourneau School of Engineering, Business & Technology

What brought you to LETU?

In short, I had two criteria for a college: 1) I was committed to going to a Christian school and 2) I wanted to study Weld Engineering (aka Material Joining Engineering). As it turns out, there is only one school in the US that fits this bill! Now, I did look at other Christian engineering schools, but ultimately it was LeTourneau's unique programs which brought me to this great school.

How would you describe your LETU Experience?

Fun and a great growing experience on many levels. Obviously, I learned a lot about my field of study, but I also grew immensely in my Christian walk due to great mentors, developed international friendships which I still benefit from today, and had numerous opportunities to test and hone leadership skills.

Did any professors have a significant impact?

By far Dr. Kyun Lee, my Statics professor (now with our Lord), had the biggest impact on my life. I had the privilege of his mentorship for 3 years through a small and intimate Bible study that he taught.

How has LETU prepared you for your career?

LeTourneau gave me the technical tools for my profession (CAD, Math, Programing, Physics, Metallurgy, etc.), developed my project management skills, honed my team leadership skills, and cast a vision for sharing the Gospel in the workplace. All of these definitely prepared me well for my career.

What advice would you give to LETU students?

Find mentors. They will take you so much further than you could have gone yourself. You have to take the initiative to pray for and look for mentors. Seek them out and seize opportunities that arise.
