Two dance master classes were held this fall in the aerobics room of the Solheim Recreational and Activity Center, on Wednesday, September 13 and Thursday, October 12, from 5:00-6:30 PM.
Angela Aulds, dance teacher, holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in Dance from Texas Women’s University in Denton and a B.A. in Dance from the University of Texas at Austin. Currently she teaches Ballet, Modern, Contact/Improvisation, Dance Practicum, and Dance Appreciation at Kilgore College. She was a Kilgore College Rangerette Captain, and has extensive experience in choreography and production. Her description of the classes:
This class will allow the students to experience practices of "Ensemble Thinking". This idea is a methodology of teaching improvisation to a group of people with little to no previous experience in improvisation. Through the class, we will begin with a classic improvisation warm up then progress into 2-person practices, 5-person practices, and then finally the entire class. Through this class, students will learn how to become conscious of their own bodies' movement habits while moving with others and learning new movement patterns.
