YellowJackets Dream Run Falls Just Short in ASC Title Match; Haney and Taylor Named to All-Tournament Team
ABILENE, TX – The LeTourneau University Men’s Tennis Team battled to the very end this afternoon in
the ASC Title Match against UT-Tyler, but came up just short as they lost their first bid to win a
title in program history. The Jackets fell 5-2 and drop to 20-4 on the season as they await their
fate for additional postseason play.
The Jackets fell behind 2-1 after doubles play. The lone win came in an exciting match at #2
where the team of Mark Taylor/Ryan Thomas went two sets before finally taking care of Robert
Sajovich/Andrew Reznik 9-8, 9-7. During singles play Tyler jumped out with two quick points in the
#3 match where David Ashlock beat Thomas 6-1, 6-4 and in #1 where Dustin Phillips took care of
Taylor 6-2, 6-0 giving the Patriots a 4-1 advantage.
#6 Paul Haney gave LETU their second win as he pounded out a win in two sets 6-4, 6-1 over
Nick Kreines. With some life left two of the final three matches went to a decisive third set. #4
