Faith Integration

Learning is a lifelong process of discovery; a process in which the student is the main agent. For faculty at LeTourneau University, a significant part of that process of discovery is the integration of faith and learning. The world needs Christian scholars, not scholars who are Christian. The world needs Christian educators, not education side-by-side with Christianity.

Integration of faith and learning is not an achievement or a position; rather it is an intellectual activity that must continue as long as a person keeps learning anything at all!

Faith-based education should not shield the student from all that the world has to offer, rather it should open the eyes of students to the truth…truth that is ultimately unified in and derived from God. Therefore, the individual professor’s task should be to inspire and equip students to think and to subsequently act upon their thoughts based upon a foundation that God created all things. According to Arthur Holmes, when asked about what was learned while in college, a student from a Christian institution of higher education should respond, “I learned what it is like to see and think and act like the individual God made me to be.
