 CETL Faculty Grant Awards - January 2012

Dr. Gary DeBoer

 

$1250 were granted to Dr. Gary DeBoer - Chemistry & Physics - "Open Source  Texts to Enhance Affordability & Effectiveness of the General Chemistry Curriculum" 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 $1250 were granted to Dr. Vicki Sheafer - Psychology - "Using Drama to Enhance Learning of Classic Experiments in  Social Psychology"

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 $2,500 were granted to Mr. Bruce Chase - Aviation - "Use of Cockpit Video to Improve Flight Training"

 

 

 

 

 

 

 Lunch 'N Learn - November 2011 - Ken Rouse was our presenter for the November 2011 Lunch 'N Learn. Ken demonstrated practical uses of the test preparation software called Respondus. The event was held in the Education 109 conference room from 11:00am-12:00 noon and was webcast via Adobe Connect to our sites in Dallas and Houston. Title III Grant - This program helps eligible IHEs to become self-sufficient and expand their capacity to serve low-income students by providing funds to improve and strengthen the academic quality, institutional management, and fiscal stability of eligible institutions. For more information visit www2.ed.gov. LeTourneau is currently eligible to apply again for the Title III Grant during the Fall of 2011after the required one-year consecutive waiting period expired October 30, 2010.

Lunch & Learn - Lunch & Learn sessions are held in the various technology equipped rooms in Longview, Dallas, and Houston to enable faculty and staff at all sites to participate. Employees may eat the provided lunch while technology support staff members demonstrate and discuss various techniques for working effectively with our university networks. FITness Academy - Four FITness Academy sessions were held in the years, 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2010. Three of these sessions were funded by the previous Title III grant. 10-14 faculty applied each time and were selected to each years' academy and spent 2-3 days each time exploring faculty development themes. Topics included, curriculum writing techniques, hybrid course creation, Creating peer mentor groups for the deployment of Blackboard 9.1.

Faculty Workshops - Our faculty workshops include many things from tips on enhancing your technology use in the classroom to encouragement in your spiritual disciplines.
