SCHEDULE:

 Part-time evening (Monday-Thursday) and weekend position 

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

LeTourneau University seeks a person with an enthusiastic and contagious Christian faith who is committed to Christian higher education and integrating faith with learning. The Margaret Estes Library is seeking a library assistant to help patrons with research requests.  Under the administrative direction of librarians, the employee will provide reference and circulation services.

  • Meets library needs of faculty, staff, residential, and global students.
  • Provides library reference services.
  • Performs circulation desk tasks.
  • Maintains shelving system according to Library of Congress classification.
  • Manages library information systems.
  • Supervises student workers.
  • Assists with the university archives and R.G. LeTourneau Museum.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a field that requires research (examples: English, business, psychology).
  • Superb customer service skills are required.
  • The ability to work independently is required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • The person frequently communicates with students, faculty, and community members and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. The person operates computers and other productivity equipment and machinery.
  • The person must be able to evaluate digital, print, and archive material, including those in various font types and sizes.
  • The person frequently moves audiovisual and library equipment and books weighing up to 50 lbs.
