The position is for nine months, with the possibility of summer school teaching.  Classes and other responsibilities are conducted primarily weekdays, but may include some evening classes and independent studies.  Attendance may also be required at some evening and weekend events. 


LeTourneau University invites applications for a Visiting Faculty in the School of Theology & Vocation for the 2018-2019 academic year - rank depending upon qualifications. This full-time, non-tenure track position is renewable for up to three years - with the possibility of becoming a tenure-track position. 

  • Serves as a faculty member in the Department of Theology.
  • Maintains excellence in classroom teaching and promotes creative and strong pedagogical practices within the course curriculum.
  • Participates actively in the University learning community by serving on department, school, and/or university committees and special service assignments.
  • Provides leadership, support, and advocacy of department initiatives in concert with the mission and academic culture of LeTourneau University.
  • Contributes to the strategic vision of the university, especially with respect to the discussion of faith and work, theological integration, and globalization.
  • Actively engages in student mentoring, advising, and extracurricular activities and events.
  • Maintains a strong scholarly agenda to exemplify academic engagement and currency in the field.
  • Actively invests in a local church body and ministry activities.


A doctorate (Ph.D. or D.Min.) is preferred, but applicants with an advanced degree and significant teaching and ministry experience will be considered. We seek a teacher-scholar in the area of Christian Ministry, Biblical Studies, or both. In either case, candidates should have significant experience in ministry and the desire to encourage and mentor students studying for ministry. The successful candidate will teach our general education courses (Biblical Literature and Biblical Theology for the Christian Life) and Christian Ministry courses, Christian Missions courses, upper-level Bible courses, or some combination of these.
