SCHEDULE:

Office hours are primarily weekdays, but responsibilities require additional hours and flexibility that can include evenings and weekends. The position is for nine months, with the possibility of summer school teaching. Classes and other responsibilities are conducted primarily weekdays, but could include some evening classes and independent studies. Attendance will also be required at some evening and weekend events.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Department of Biology is a growing department with a strong pre-med and health services focus. The Biology Department at LeTourneau University invites applications for a tenure-track, assistant professor position in biology with primary expertise in microbiology. Teaching assignments will include microbiology for health sciences, general biology, and cell biology. Other courses to be taught could include environmental science, human anatomy and physiology, and new or existing courses in the candidate's area of expertise. Research and teaching experience are highly desired. Responsibilities include:

  • Teach freshman-to-senior level Biology lecture and laboratory courses as needed
  • Oversee laboratory instruction conforming to best practices, including those for safety and protection of human health
  • Work with the Director of Nursing on curriculum issues
  • Participate in student advising and success programs
  • Maintain a commitment to academic scholarship in field of expertise

QUALIFICATIONS:

LeTourneau University seeks a person with an enthusiastic and contagious Christian faith who is committed to Christian higher education that integrates Christian faith with learning. The biology program at LeTourneau University invites applicants for a tenure-track assistant professor position. A doctoral degree or ABD in a discipline of the life sciences is required. In addition to leadership experience, applicants must possess a strong interest and commitment to teaching and advising at the undergraduate level including advising students of pre-health professions. The successful candidate must have a proven ability to relate to students and must be able to communicate subject material using contemporary methods.
