Academic Technologist

Primarily weekdays,  8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Additional hours and weekends are required as needed.

Leadership/Quality Control

• Enable intense collaboration and teamwork between the assigned school and the CITL as both an advocate and representative for the needs and challenges in curriculum and technology for the particular school.
• Provide the Director of Instructional Design and Technology with needs assessments and strategic learning assessments to develop the basis for curriculum development and/or to update curricula in collaboration with the Dean and faculty of the school assigned.
• Lead the development of instruction roadmaps for online, blended and face to face learning programs for the assigned school.
• Maintain an awareness of curriculum-related federal laws, accreditation requirements, and best practices and make recommendations regarding existing policies and procedures as necessary to assure compliance in those areas.
• Maintain awareness and provide leadership in current and emerging technologies that could impact and/or improve the delivery of educational courses, programs, and/or products especially as it applies to the disciplines within the assigned school.
• Provide development assistance as necessary for master course documentation or manuals according to applicable accreditation, certification, or other requirements as they apply to the assigned school.
• Provide analytical support for the design and development of training curricula, learning strategies, educational policies, or courseware standards for the assigned school.
• Recommend changes to curricula or delivery methods, based on information such as instructional effectiveness data, current or future performance requirements, feasibility, and costs for the assigned school.
• Research and evaluate emerging instructional technologies and methods especially related to the disciplines within the assigned school.
• Analyze performance data within the assigned school to determine effectiveness of instructional systems, courses, or instructional materials.
• Enable engagement of the CITL as a vibrant, multi-school team of instructional design and technologists to ensure meeting goals towards vision for technologies role in course design and the learning experience and good customer support for faculty members and constituents.
• Observe and provide feedback on instructional techniques, presentation methods, or instructional aids, primarily as related to disciplines within the assigned school.
• Review course content and assignments to ensure high academic quality, utilization of a variety of learning methods and technologies, opportunities for active student-faculty engagement, and appropriate support resources for student success for the assigned school.
• Liaison collaborative development of measurement tools to evaluate the effectiveness of instruction or training interventions and learning experiences developed in collaboration with the CITL and assigned school.

• Develop instructional materials and products for technology-based redesign of courses.
• Develop training materials and information for instructors to improve their use and effectiveness of instructional technology in the learning environment.
• Design instructional aids for stand-alone or instructor-led classroom or online use.
• Design, secure and implement learning products.
• Assess effectiveness and efficiency of instruction according to ease of instructional technology use and student learning, knowledge transfer, and satisfaction.
• Interview subject matter experts and/or conduct other research to develop recommendations regarding instructional content.
• Present and make recommendations regarding course design, technology, and instruction delivery options.
• Provide technical advice on the use of current instructional technologies, including but not limited to computer-based training, desktop videoconferencing, multimedia, and distance learning technologies.
• Recommend instructional methods, such as individual or group instruction, self-study, lectures, demonstrations, simulation exercises, and role-playing, appropriate for content and learner characteristics.
• Articulate LeTourneau’s mission and practice regarding the integration of faith and learning especially considering the role of technology and suggest ways that faculty members might develop this practice in their courses.

• Provide technical support to faculty in the implementation of designed instruction or in task analyses and instructional systems design.
• Must maintain confidentiality of faculty and student records
• Edit instructional materials, such as books, simulation exercises, lesson plans, instructor guides, and tests.

• Must exhibit an enthusiastic and maturing Christian faith and commitment to the evangelical mission of the university.
• Must model LeTourneau’s concept of faith, learning, and work as a holistic integration.
• Must possess an accredited master’s degree, Ph.D. preferred. Undergraduate or graduate work in the areas of Instructional Design and/or one of the disciplines within the schools of Education, Business, or Arts and Sciences, is preferred.
• Must have a minimum of two years experience in the area of instructional design, instructional technology and/or computer support.
• College-level experience teaching in the classroom and online strongly preferred.
• Must possess attention to detail and superb organizational skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, collaborative style of communication and leadership.
• Computer skills in MS Office to include MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access; skills in Lecture-Capture software, wikis, and other educational related software is preferred.
• Expertise with Learning Management Systems operations, functions and troubleshooting; knowledge of several LMS platforms is preferred.
• Expertise in audio/visual educational technology preferred
• Familiarity with graphic design principles
• Understanding of how to adapt instructional content or delivery methods for different levels and types of learners.
• Must be a self-starter who can participate with LeTourneau’s vision for exceptional and highly-engaging learning experience both on ground and online.

• Ability to manage and complete multiple tasks and projects as an excellent multitasker.
