Financial Aid Information
Attention 2012-13 FAFSA Filers: New policies and procedures from the Department of Education encourage you complete and submit your 2011 Income Tax documents to the IRS approximately 2 weeks prior to completing your FAFSA. As you work on your FAFSA you will be prompted to use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool (DRT), and this tool allows your tax information to be imported directly into your FAFSA (saving you time and reducing your chances of being selected for verification). Contact the financial aid office if you have additional questions. To ensure the optimal registration and financial aid experience, the FAFSA Priority Deadline is March 31, 2012. Funding for some financial aid programs are very limited and so the earlier you submit the FAFSA the better chance you have at these funds.
Being accepted to college is exciting! Figuring out how to pay for it is not. That’s why our Financial Aid staff is dedicated to helping you afford a LeTourneau University education. More than 97% of our students receive some form of financial aid, and we try to provide financial assistance to students who otherwise would be unable to attend.
Forms of financial aid range from gift aid (scholarship and grants that don’t have to be repaid), student loans and work study programs, to a combination of these. Don’t let the price tag keep you from a LeTourneau education — the only way to find out if you qualify for student aid is to apply. New Verification Requirements
For the 2012-13 academic year, if you are chosen for verification, you must provide a tax transcript from the IRS to LETU (a signed 1040 form is no longer acceptable proof of tax information).
Below are the various ways you can complete the Form 4506-T and request your tax transcript:
- Complete and submit the form online
- Download the form via the IRS website and send by mail or fax (see instructions, address and phone on page 2)
- Stop by the LETU Financial Aid Office and we will provide the form and fax for you.
For additional information or clarification from the IRS, call 800-829-1040 and follow the automated instructions.
Fax your tax transcript to 903-233-4302 or scan and email to finaid@letu.edu. Call our offices at 903-233-4350 and let us know how we can help!
- Be accepted for admission to LETU
- File the 2012-2013 FAFSA
- If selected for verification, complete the verification form.
