Is this really a Christian school?

Yes. A deep faith in God is the cornerstone of LeTourneau University. We recognize that all knowledge comes from God, the Creator, and we encourage students to know Him through His son, Jesus Christ. Despite the fact that LeTourneau University attracts students from many nations, cultures and church denominations, our Christian faith and biblical worldview unite our faculty, staff and students together as a community of believers.

What religious affiliation is LETU?

LeTourneau is an interdenominational university and enrolls students from a wide variety of Christian backgrounds.

How do you pronounce the name of the school?

We get that a lot. It's pronounced Luh-turn-oh.

Where is LeTourneau located?

Our 162-acre campus is located in Longview, Texas, which is located two hours east of Dallas and one hour west of Shreveport, La., off of I-20. To learn more about Longview, click here.

Is there anything to do there?

In Texas, where everything is bigger and better, Longview is no different. Seated deep in the Piney Woods of East Texas, Longview is rich with Texas traditions and culture. Mouth-watering Bar-B-Que and authentic Tex-Mex are just a few of the foods Texas is famous for and you can find them all right here in Longview.

You won’t find a lack of entertainment in and around Longview. We have several shopping centers, opera, museums, theaters, fishing, camping and many other exciting events and attractions. We’re also home to the Great Texas Balloon Race, the longest running hot air balloon event in the state.

Serving as a hub-city for Shreveport, Dallas, and Houston, there are also a multitude of attractions just a short drive away. Head west for two hours and you’ll find yourself in Dallas, Texas. Also known as “The Big D” Dallas offers all of the major sports and other attractions such as the World Aquarium, Six Flags Amusement Park, and the Texas State Fair. You can also venture an hour east and visit the boardwalk in Shreveport, Louisiana where you’ll find the best Cajun-style seafood in the South. Houston is home to NASA, The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, and over 40 museums and galleries.

2.5 guys for every 1 girl.

How much does it cost?

What about financial aid?

Approximately 96 percent of LeTourneau University traditional undergraduate students receive some form of financial aid. Freshman students new to LETU may qualify for one of our prestigious merit awards. For more information, check out our Financial Aid Web pages.

What are your most popular academic programs?

We're known nationally for our aeronautical science (aviation) programs and internationally for our engineering programs. Our Biomedical concentration is one of the top programs in the US! What is the student-to-faculty ratio?


What are the average ACT/SAT scores for incoming LETU students?

Over the past few years, our students entered with an average composite SAT of 1160-1170. The average verbal SAT was 587, with the average Math score of 590. The average ACT score was 25.

Will LETU require the writing score on the SAT and/or the ACT?

Yes, we ask that all students submit their writing scores with SAT and ACT.  The writing scores will not be used for admissions but may be used for English placement.

Is there a deadline for submitting my application?

Yes and no. We do not have a specific date prior to the beginning of each semester by which you must submit your application but the earlier the better.  Applications for Fall 2013 will be accepted through August 2013.  Applications for fall 2013 will be reviewed beginning September 2012.

How many students attend LeTourneau?

We have more than 1,300 undergraduate students at our main campus in Longview.  When you include all LETU campuses, including those for working adults and our graduate programs, we have over 3,000 students!

What is the job placement rate?

Demand for our graduates has proven to be exceptional, with a three-year placement rate of 91 percent. Our successful placement rate for engineering graduates is 95 percent and aviation placement is 83 percent.
