Travel and Housing Arrangements

If you are coming by yourself and you make flight arrangements, plan to fly American Eagle into East Texas Regional Airport (GGG) in Longview, American or United into Tyler Pounds Regional Airport (TYR) in Tyler, Texas, or AmericanDelta, Northwest, or Continental into Shreveport Regional Airport (SHV) in Louisiana.

We are not able to provide shuttle service to/from the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport. If you need to arrive on Thursday or stay over until Sunday to get the best price for flights then that's fine. We'll be in contact with you after you register to confirm your flight/shuttle service arrangements.

You may also travel to Longview by bus or train. We have pick-up service from the Longview Amtrak Station as well as the Greyhound Bus Station. Students can be picked up anytime on Friday. We will also provide transportation for students to the airport terminal, train and bus stations.

Please try to schedule your return flight on Saturday afternoon to allow plenty of time to complete the morning's activities and arrive at your designated airport.  We are not able to provide transportation for parents to/from airports, campus, or hotels.



On-campus housing will be provided for all Heritage Weekend participants. Parents and siblings of participants should arrange for accommodations at one of the local hotels in Longview.  Here is a partial listing of area hotels. For your convenience we've setup a listing in Google Maps of hotels available in the local area.


Heritage Travel Grant

To assist students in this competition, a special Heritage Travel Grant is available to participants. Up to $300 for travel costs will be applied to the participant's student account once he or she officially enrolls at LeTourneau University for the fall 2014 semester. Appropriate documentation of expenses is required.

The Heritage Travel Grant must be received within 30 days of the competition.
