IEP Support

LeTourneau University is dedicated to helping our international students succeed in the classroom, improve their conversational English and gain a broad understanding of American culture and life. Coursework may include the following:

 

Our Intensive English Program (IEP), taught by Dr. Ignacio Palacios and Mr. Steve Vance, provides an overview and introduction to everyday English language and American society. Coursework focus is not only on the technical side of the English language (idioms, structure, etc.) but also heavily emphasizes speaking by incorporating presentations, classroom exercises, trips and one-on-one time with current LETU speakers.

Dr. Ignacio Palacios

Dr. Palacios has an M.A. in English as a Second Language, and a Ph.D. in English, specializing in Rhetoric and Linguistics. He has been with LETU for two years and in addition to our IEP classes, also teaches World Literature and English Review.

Dr. Palacios has also previously taught English, TESOL and Spanish Courses during his career.

“For our ESL program at LETU, I foresee students learning the English language for academic settings, immersed in an English speaking environment, enjoying cultural experiences to enhance the learning process.”

Dr. Palacios is married with two adult sons. As a hobby, he enjoys making marionettes and piñatas.
