“Dr. Sheafer, Dr. Roudkovski and I have so many funny stories- if you hang
around their offices at all, you will pick up on their humor and friendly banter. They are
genuinely concerned about each student and want to be involved in helping them reach their full
potential.
Current and prospective students have asked me if I would recommend going into psychology, and I always enthusiastically say YES! The psychology department is exceptional in its values, objectives and real world application.”

“The thing I love most about the psychology department is the honest
investment into each person. Professors aren't just teachers but mentors, willing to help and guide
you in any way possible. This is a family committed to seeing each person achieve greatness; they
are willing to sacrifice themselves to push you forward.”

“My experience with LeTourneau University’s psychology department has been
really enjoyable. I just wish I would have stuck to God’s calling back in high school about a
college major.
My all-time favorite event was when a former client of a local psychiatrist who suffers from Dissociative Identity Disorder, or Multiple Personalities, visited campus with her husband. They brought up a very controversial issue among not only psychologists, but Christians as well. Listening and watching her change from one personality to another stretches the mind.
I also enjoyed leading group therapy for Sabine Valley Mental Health Services. The individuals we worked with were homeless, had drug and/or alcohol addictions and had co-occurring psychiatric disorders (schizophrenia, depression, etc.). During our last session with the group they really started opening up and talking about their problems and some possible solutions to those problems. These individuals open up to us and each other about their lives and were searching for new ways to live. It was amazing.”

“The psychology department at LeTourneau is a quality program that rivals
larger universities, with a wide range of courses to choose from. There's also research
opportunities, a psychology club (Kappa Phi Delta) for students to get involved with and absolutely
amazing professors who genuinely care about every student in their classes.”
Jamie Hansell, Psychology
“Through my experience at LETU I grew academically, personally and
professionally. I was prepared beyond my expectations. I currently work for a crisis center and
behavioral health facility. In both positions, I am academically and spiritually equipped to be an
extension of God’s healing mercies. As I prepare to attend graduate school next fall, I am
confident that my mission will continue to remain strong as a result of my education from
LeTourneau’s psychology department.
During classes, meetings with professors, and psychology club functions, I laughed often and hard. Usually, it was the laughter that brought me through tough classes, challenging personal situations and spiritual struggles.

“One of my favorite things about the psychology department is the
professors. They make themselves available for help with homework, future plans, or even life
issues. They don’t just say that they care, they actively show it.
My psychology degree from LeTourneau definitely prepared me for graduate school. Lots of new graduate students have to take a few more required undergrad courses before they can complete their graduate classes. Thankfully, LeTourneau's psychology department did their homework; I have all of my undergraduate requirements so I can jump straight into the graduate work.”
