Annual Professional Networking Dinner

Each year since its inception, PAS has hosted a dinner for business students and faculty to get connected within the Longview business community. More than just an exercise in professionalism, the dinner is a great opportunity for students to find internships and jobs, for professors to find real-world projects for the classroom, and for businesses to engage with LeTourneau's vibrant school of business.

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)

VITA is a national program sponsored through the Internal Revenue Service that trains volunteers to provide tax services and makes those services available to low-income and elderly individuals who otherwise might not receive effective and affordable assistance in filing their tax returns. LETU's School of Business Accounting Program partners with the Greater Longview United Way and the Internal Revenue Service to provide this assistance in our community.  VITA is also an incredible opportunity for students to gain an essential life-skill in preparing and filing income tax returns. This semester, PAS members will be involved in VITA throughout the tax season, serving the community with our unique skills.

Training

Those volunteering to serve in the VITA program receive certified Internal Revenue Service training right here on the LETU campus.  Each volunteer who passes the certification examination becomes a certified Volunteer Income Tax Preparer who is qualified to provide volunteer services to prepare and file income tax returns for any VITA site. VITA also has opportunities for other positions such as greeter, screener, or interpreter for those who are not comfortable with preparing taxes.

Recruiting for the 2013 tax season is ongoing, so you can still get involved. If interested, contact Phyllis Collins at Greater Longview United way at 903-758-0191 or check out the  VITA website online!

Go Pro!

It's one thing to be told "business casual" and another to know what it means. PAS' Go Pro event makes it hands on with models that exhibit the different styles of professional dress with outfits provided by department stores such as Dillard's. Attendees also get a chance to hear an expert answer their questions about jewelry, shoes, ties, or any nuance of businesswear.

Career Readiness

Not sure what to put on your resume or how to dress for the Career Fair? The Career Readiness event brings in recruiters and Human Resources to talk about how to impress employers from interview questions and resumes to first impressions and what to bring to the Career Fair.

Dinner at Mrs. Bellamy's

PAS isn't just all about work. We often head over to sponsor Mrs. Bellamy's house for dinner and fun. This can include swimming, dancing on the Wii, riding in the paddle boat, or relaxing around a bonfire. It's a great time for getting to know people and brainstorming ideas.
