LeTourneau University's accounting graduates are in high demand by public, private and non-profit entities. In a field with serious global opportunity, they’re about more than just numbers. They sport the must-haves top employers require:

Knowledge. Ethics. And Integrity.

In addition to helping you land a solid job when you graduate, our accounting program is all about:

Faith-Based Excellence

At LETU, faith-based integrity is especially emphasized. We take a Biblically-based approach to decision-making. We also strive for excellence. Our students have a high CPA exam pass rate.

Diverse Career Options

We understand that accountants don’t have to sit behind a desk every day. The field of accounting is diverse. Everyone needs an accountant, from film producers and politicians, to schools, churches and airlines – and so much more. The Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants (TSCPA) created a video explaining the benefits of becoming a CPA and entering the field of accounting, which explains this idea in more detail.

Hands-On Learning

The accounting program at LETU seeks to apply students’ knowledge in real-world situations.

Take the Accounting Systems class, for example, who created an accounting system using Microsoft Access for a rancher in the Longview area, or the Intermediate Accounting II class, who visited the local Judson Middle School construction site to collaborate on a hands-on student project.

Professional Insight

Accounting professionals routinely speak to LETU students to give them experienced insight into what it’s really like to work as an accountant. For example, a representative from Becker Professional Education recently visited campus and presented information about becoming a CPA and using the Becker program to prepare for the exam.

Internships

Ample local and global internship opportunities are another element that sets LETU accounting students apart. Each accounting student is required to complete at least one internship before they graduate in order to translate their textbook know-how into proven experience – even before setting foot into the real world. To help establish strong careers for their students from the start, the LETU accounting faculty provides connections with numerous businesses and opportunities across Texas, and their goal to help students gain substantial career experience is paramount.

Student Involvement
LETU accounting students have ample opportunities to get involved, including the Professional Accounting Society (PAS), a student organization that seeks to teach its members about accounting, make professional connections in the community and serve as Christ served.

LETU also supports Volunteer Income Taxes Assistance (VITA), and annual program through which a group of students can be trained on official Internal Revenue Service (IRS) software in order to help the elderly and low-income families of Longview to file their taxes at no cost. All students are welcome to participate. An informational meeting as well as the training begins in October!
