Pre-Medical Program
The medical doctorate (M.D.) is the requirement to lead the health care team in the clinical setting. Four years of medical school and at least 3 years of residency follow the undergraduate degree. Some specialties require 5-7 years of residency after earning the M.D. degree.
LeTourneau’s pre-med program encourages the student to earn a bachelor’s degree, which includes the necessary pre-requisite courses and to participate in advantageous experiences. These experiences are part of building and outstanding application package to enter a medical school to pursue the M.D. degree. Individual advising and thorough letters of evaluation are provided by the faculty.
An applicant is not required to obtain an undergraduate degree in a specific discipline; however, some plans of study include all of the pre-requisite courses for medical school acceptance. Our program also requires the student to take courses that help in both MCAT preparation and courses taken in the first two years of medical school.
Volunteer experiences are very valuable to show a medical school admissions committee that you give to others expecting nothing in return; this is a natural part of your character.

* Please note that the pre-health and pre-law programs are not majors. Utilized along with our suggested majors, these programs prepare students for graduate school in their chosen field.
