Pre-Dental Program
Dentistry is a very hands-on profession where you are constantly using your hands to do fine work. It also includes increasing levels of technology to help provide better care. Most dentists are in independent businesses as solo practitioners or in small groups. Dentistry has less interference from administrators and insurance companies.
To enter dental school, you generally must earn a bachelor’s degree and accumulate advantageous experiences that demonstrate your knowledge of the profession and your caring ethics. Certain academic courses are needed to enter a medical school to pursue the Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Medical Dentistry (DMD) degree. These are included in the recommended degrees and include organic chemistry.
An applicant is not required to obtain a degree in a specific discipline; however, some plans of study include all of the pre-requisite courses. Our program also requires the student to take courses that help in both DAT preparation and for some of the courses taken in the first two years of dental school. Dental school lasts 4 years after the undergraduate degree.
Additional Information
* Please note that the pre-health and pre-law programs are not majors. Utilized along with our suggested majors, these programs prepare students for graduate school in their chosen field.
