Director, Criminal Justice Programs
Welcome to the Criminal Justice program at LeTourneau University. We are committed to helping you achieve your educational goals. Our approach is to offer a core curriculum reflecting the vital aspects of the field, and then provide the means for students to tailor their studies to their chosen career path.
The LeTourneau University’s online program currently offers the Associate of Science (AS) degree, the Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Criminal Justice, and the Bachelor in Criminal Justice (BCJ) as well as a minor in criminal justice. Students completing the AA degree are able to seamlessly continue their efforts to a bachelor’s degree.
Our program can help equip you for a career in a variety of fields to include Correctional Officer, Court Reporter, Crime Scene Examiner, Detective, Fish and Game Warden, Lawyer (further education required), Paralegal, Police Officer, Private Investigator, Probation Officer, and many other areas.
Criminal Justice is also one area that tends to be a very practical social science field, but has connections to numerous other fields like, law, policy, political science, political theory, social work, counseling, psychology, intelligence studies, military history and tactics, and sociology. For a list of related “Protective Services” fields, click here (but also search the “Legal” category and don’t forget about the entire industry of Fraud examiners and investigators within the corporate world!).
In Fall 2013, we began to offer a criminal justice major available on our main campus in Longview, TX. Those who prefer to take classes in this format and are close enough are now welcome to pursue either format, residential or online classes. Likewise, the students in residence in Longview can augment their studies by taking our online courses. Having the entire program available online makes it possible for these students to engage in internships and overseas study and still remain on track to graduate since they can still take the necessary coursework!
Whether you are currently employed and eager to finish your degree program, are just beginning your educational journey after time in another vocation, or are a recent high school graduate, you will find our programs challenging, applicable, and flexible. Through a rigorous personal study of the core concepts and the exploration of current issues with fellow students via discussion board sessions, you will come to master the material of each class, while solidifying your Christian worldview.
If there is anything I can do to assist you in your journey, please do not hesitate to contact me.
