Literature and Language Arts
Teacher Education
The Department of Literature and Language Arts works closely with the Department of Teacher Education to prepare students for a career in teaching. Students who plan to teach English may choose between the following specializations:
Early Childhood through 4th Grade Generalist
Usually a self-contained classroom with approximately 40 percent
of instruction in language arts
4th — 8th Grade
Specialization in a Language Arts/Social Studies Combination
Secondary (8th — 12th Grade)
Specialization in a teaching field such as English/Language Arts
A program of study in English Education will prepare you to be a dedicated, caring teacher who will impact young people in the United States or other parts of the world.
