Computer Degrees

We offer five different majors with a bachelor of science degree that cater to your specific interests. Whether you like the business side of computer work, prefer working with the hardware, enjoy designing programs or have a knack for solving complicated math problems, we offer degrees to meet your goals.

Majors

Computer Science (CSBS)

This major will teach you the theories and practical experience needed to prepare you for software development in the business world. If you want to continue to develop your expertise on a higher level, this could help you meet your goal of getting into grad school.

Computer Science and Engineering (CSE)

If you are fascinated by your computer, why and how it works and enjoy creating software to make it run, pick this major to channel those interests into a computer career. This major combines electrical engineering courses with computer science courses and includes a high level of mathematics. By the time you finish, you’ll have designed, built and programmed a microcomputer system on a single board, giving you experience with software and hardware.

Computer Science and Engineering Technology (CST)

Do you like trying to figure out how the hardware in a computer works? Through this major, we’ll teach you electrical engineering technology combined with the computer science courses. It is more oriented toward assembly and maintenance of computer systems and is less mathematically oriented than the computer science and engineering major.

Computer Information Systems (CIS)

Why major in computer information systems? You'll learn computer skills for information management and the business skills that today’s companies value. A CIS major will give you a solid foundation in programming and systems design and analysis courses, along with an understanding of the business environment in which you will be working.

Computer Science and Mathematics (CSMA)

Are you intrigued by the complexity of math, but know that a degree in computer science could provide you with a practical outlet for your interest? A computer science and mathematics major will combine math and computer science courses, emphasizing less of the electronics aspect of computers and more of the math involved with computers.

Concentrations

Game Development (CSGD)

You love playing them. Make it a career! Do what you love, and make a positive impact in the industry with our game development concentration. In our program, you’ll take classes like computer graphics, game development, artificial intelligence and the game project course. Get prepared for your dream job! We’ll teach you all you need to know to succeed in the field of game development.

Network Security (CSNS)

Get ready to be part of the frontline defense against cybercrime. You know the power of a network. Now, learn to design and apply network security at the corporate level. We’ll teach you how to protect companies from unauthorized intrusion. Classes like network security, information security and advanced networks will prepare you for the real thing.

Minors

Computer Science (18 credits)

Computer-related issues impact all majors. Even if your major is not computer science, you can enhance your major and distinguish yourself by adding a minor in computer science. This minor gives you a foundation in the computer sciences to complement any major.
