Introduction
Our flight program now includes
two new Diamond DA-42 Twin Star airplanes equipped with diesel engines. The airplanes, costing
nearly $500 thousand each, are the university’s first twin-engine airplanes that use diesel fuel
instead of aviation-grade gasoline. The diesel engines are more environmentally friendly and the
fuel is more commonly available and affordable across the world.
These planes are just like the regional jets you’ll probably fly after you graduate—talk about landing your first job out of college! Plus, regular aviation-grade gasoline is not as plentiful in Third World countries, so if you’re wanting to be a missionary pilot- these planes are the way to go.
This is what one our flight instructors has to say about the planes:

“These new planes help us better prepare you to keep up with the
technology used in aviation. The navigation and engine technology on these airplanes is
state-of-the-art. In their class, there’s nothing out there better than these airplanes.”
