The SkyWest Airlines Pilot Cadet Program includes three phases.
The applicant must hold at least a Certified Flight Instructor Certificate and Airplane Multi-engine Land Commercial Pilot Certificate and an Instrument rating. All FAA pilot certificates for Airplane category must have been earned as a result of training received from LeTourneau University’s flight program, with the exemption of the Private Pilot Certificate.
Applicants must maintain at least a 3.0 GPA or higher and receive a recommendation from the Program Advisory Committee. Students must be U.S. citizens or possess the legal right to work in the U.S. including the right to travel to and from the cities SkyWest Airlines serves. Once all prerequisites are met, the applicant will have the opportunity to attend SkyWest orientation at either the Denver or Salt Lake City facilities.
Pilot candidates must be flight instructors for LeTourneau University or another SkyWest approved school to accrue required flight experience. Cadets will benefit from the mentoring provided by SkyWest pilots and may have the opportunity to assist with projects, job fairs, and recruiting events as needed. Once the applicant meets the minimum aeronautical requirements of 14 CFR 61.159, they will eligible to move on to Phase Three.
In the third phase, the pilot candidate will be scheduled for the first available final interview with SkyWest Airlines. Each applicant must meet the required standards for employment and pass all phases of the recruitment process, including a behavioral-based interview, CRM evaluation, technical interview and a simulator evaluation. Upon successful completion of all requirements, a final interview for a first officer position will be administered by the SkyWest’s Flight Operations pilot interview team.
