2017 LeTourneau University math education graduate Courtney Matulis of Pittsburg, Texas, was honored as Texas Clinical Teacher of the Year at the annual conference of the Consortium of State Organizations for Texas Teacher Education (CSOTTE), held in Corpus Christi recently.
Matulis was one of three clinical teachers honored by the organization for 2017. She was accompanied by her former faculty mentors, Dr. Julie Teel-Borders, Dr. Kathy Stephens and Mrs. Jodie Hilburn.
Matulis is the sixth Clinical Teacher of the Year from LETU’s residential educator preparation program to be honored in the past decade. The competition includes all Texas private and public universities that offer educator preparation programs.
Matulis is now a first-year math teacher at Gilmer High School.
“We are very proud of Courtney,” Dr. Teel-Borders said. “She exemplifies the type of dedication and passion we seek to instill in all of our education students.”
