LeTourneau University was ranked among the top 100 private universities in the United States, among the 1,200 reviewed by Kiplinger’s list of Best College Values for 2016. LeTourneau University is ranked 76 in Kiplinger's list of Best Values in Private Colleges nationwide.
“LeTourneau University is in great company on this Kiplinger’s list, which is topped by Ivy League schools like Princeton, Yale, and Harvard,” said LETU President Dr. Dale A. Lunsford. “The only other Texas schools that made the list were Rice University in Houston, Trinity University in San Antonio and Southern Methodist University in Dallas.”
Kiplinger’s rankings considered competitiveness, graduation rates, academic support (including freshmen retention rate—the percentage of freshmen students who return for their sophomore year), and cost and financial aid. Kiplinger’s only measured four-year graduation rates, which penalizes schools with students who don’t complete their degrees within four years. They ranked schools using cost and financial aid measures with quality attributed for 55% and cost accounting for 45% of the ranking score.
Because private schools generally offer more financial aid and have higher graduation rates than public schools, many private schools listed at the top of the list. Not all schools met Kiplinger’s criteria for quality and affordability.
