Summary
This guide will familiarize you with support for various browsers and features of LetNet Webmail.
Multiple Browser Support
LetNet Webmail now supports the same rich experience in major browsers on multiple operating system platforms.
To use the complete set of features available, you can use the following browsers on a computer running Windows XP, Windows 2003, Windows Vista, or Windows 7:
-
Internet Explorer 7 and later versions.
-
Firefox 3.0.1 through 7.X (not version 8).
-
Chrome 3.0.195.27 and later versions.
On a computer running Max OS X, you can use:
-
Safari 3.1 and later versions.
-
Firefox 3.0.1 through 7.X (not version 8).
-
Firefox 3.0.1 through 7.X (not version 8).
If you use a Web browser that doesn't support the full feature set, Outlook Web App will open in the light version.
The light version of Outlook Web App is optimized for accessibility, such as for users who are blind or have low vision. The light version provides fewer features and is faster for some operations. You may want to use the light version if you're on a slow connection or using a computer with unusually strict browser security settings. The light version can be used with almost any browser and has the same features across all browsers.
Firefox 8: Firefox 8 has a known incompatibility with downloading attachments with the correct extension. All other aspects of the browser should work with LetNet Webmail but we generally recommend avoiding FF8 with LetNet Webmail for now.
Login Screen
To login to LetNet Webmail simply enter your LetNet username and password in the User Name and Password fields and click the “Sign in” button. If you would like to have a longer timeout period before automatic logout you may choose the “This is a private computer” option, however this is not generally a good idea in a public setting, (i.e. computer labs or a friend’s computer).

Conversation View
Previously, LetNet Webmail organized messages primarily in date order. In the upgraded version, messages are ordered by date, but also grouped by conversation (similar to gmail, though it behaves differently). For more information on this feature please visit http://www.howexchangeworks.com/2009/08/conversation-view-in-owa-2010.html
User options
User options such as distribution lists, rules, and other configuration options are now enhanced and available by clicking on the "Options" link in the upper-right hand corner of LetNet Webmail

Themes
Included in the options section is the ability to select themes for Letnet Webmail. To pick a different theme select Options and pick a theme from the area at the bottom, use the left or right scroll icons to view more themes.

By hovering your mouse over your mailbox in the lefthand pane, you can find out how much of your available mailbox space you are using at present, as shown here:

Other Features
The list below is not exhaustive but provides an idea of some of the features in the LetNet Webmail Client
- Conversation view. By grouping messages from a single conversation together, the new conversation view enables you to quickly identify the most recent messages and the chain of responses. Conversation view is always preserved, even if individual e-mail messages are located in different folders in the mailbox. By treating an entire group of messages as a single conversation, the messages can be managed, ignored, moved, and deleted as a whole. New messages that are part of a conversation that you have chosen to ignore are sent straight to the deleted items folder.
- Ignore Conversation: If you belong to mailing lists, you’ll appreciate this new feature in Outlook 2010, which you also get with Letnet Webmail. Sometimes, the group will engage in discussions that don’t interest you at all. Now you don’t even have to see them. Just select Ignore Conversation from the action menu and any further messages in that conversation will be automatically deleted. This can be a real time-saver.
- Multiple browser support. You now get the same richness and productivity experience within major browsers (see above for full supported list).
- MailTips. With MailTips, you can be more efficient and more professional in your e-mail communications. MailTips warns you when you are about to do something that could have damaging or embarrassing consequences—such as sending a message outside your organization, to a large distribution list, to someone who is out of the office, with attachments that are too big to deliver, etc..
- Single page of messages. All messages are on one page. No matter how big the folder, you can scroll through every message without having to advance through pages. You can more efficiently access your messages and scan conversations to find the communications you are looking for.
- Nickname cache. By storing the e-mail addresses of recent recipients, the nickname cache helps you address e-mail more quickly by providing a suggested name list as a new address is typed. This automatically-populated list narrows itself as you type more letters of the recipient's name, and it is a combined cache of recent recipients of e-mail sent from Outlook Web App and Outlook Mobile.
- Filters. Filters are now easier to apply from a convenient drop-down menu with common options.
- Search. Searching in Outlook Web App is now more powerful with advanced queries. You can start searches like “from:”, “to:”, “has attachments:”, and many others to specify search criteria and find the messages you are looking for more easily. You can save and access favorite searches at the click of a mouse, so you have faster access to information.
- Calendar sharing. You can now share your calendar with people outside LETU. You can view multiple calendars side by side and use this information in the Scheduling Assistant to schedule meetings with internal and external contacts.
- Favorites. You look for certain things over and over, such as unread messages. Favorites are saved, user-defined filters that you can access at the click of a mouse, giving you faster access to the information you use most to help them stay productive.
