I decided to attend LeTourneau because of its reputation for excellent academics and its small classes in a Christ-centered environment.
How would you describe your LETU Experience?
I look back on my time at LeTourneau with great affection. I made lifelong friends, discovered personal strengths, and was built-up and encouraged in whatever I was pursuing.
Did any professors have a significant impact?
I learned something significant from all my professors. But Dr. Sheafer, Dr. Batts, Dr. Coppinger, and Dr. Hetzel stand out to me as major influencers, mostly because of how they helped me process decisions and challenged me not to underestimate myself. I still hold on to specific lines of encouragement from each one.
How has LETU prepared you for your career?
The foundation I received in English and Biblical Studies prepared me for most of my career in education as a Junior High teacher. Beyond academics, I was given a vision for my life and challenged to make fearless decisions. I was encouraged to take risks, create new solutions, and join in where others were active in God's work. Combined, these things have equipped me for the work I'm doing now.
What advice would you give to LETU students?
Study what you enjoy in addition to what's merely pragmatic. Don't believe you have to wait until school's over for your life to start. Embrace the freedom you have to make risky decisions. Look for God's redemption in the world, and join in.
