LETOURNEAU'S MINI BAJA TEAM

Mini Baja is a senior design project at LeTourneau University. Each year juniors and seniors design, build and race a mini baja car in a nationwide competition organized by SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers). The SAE organization draws out very specific and detailed rules that all participating teams must abide by. The main limitation in the design is that all cars must use the same, unmodified, Briggs and Stratton ten-horse power motor. As a result, the cars are designed to be as light as possible, while still fulfilling the guidelines. The car is designed in the fall semester and modeled on a computer. In the spring semester, the car is built by the students culminating in a national competition held by SAE at the end of the semester.
