First Semester - Fall 2012

BIBL 1043 Biblical Foundations For Living (L)
An introductory course highlighting the relationship between Biblical teaching and contemporary Christian living. This initial experience in the integration of faith and learning focuses on principles of Biblical interpretation and application. Students learn how to interpret core Biblical passages so as to give guidance for some of the tough issues Christians face today. Class 3.

CMIN 2103 Foundations for Christian Ministry
An exploration of the biblical, theological, historical, contextual, and experiential foundations for ministry in the world today. Consideration is given to various opportunities for ministry, as students work towards a personal philosophy of ministry. Class 3. (Fall)

COMM 1113 Introduction To Speech Communication
A study of basic oral communication principles, including verbal and nonverbal language, listening, group dynamics, and public speaking. Emphasis is upon application of these principles in the sending and receiving of different types of oral discourse. Class 3.

ENGL 1013 English Composition I
A study of effective writing, reading, and speaking. Emphasis is on effective personal and expository writing. (This course must be completed before reaching Junior standing.) Class 3. Prerequisite: Qualification on ACT or SAT exam or completion of ENGL 1004 with a grade of D..

LETU 1101 Cornerstones Of Life And Learning (L)
This course introduces students to the LeTourneau University community and prepares them for the pursuit of whole person education and lifelong learning. It helps students explore and learn how to fulfill God's unique design for their lives through a holistic approach that establishes four essential cornerstones of life and learning: personal, intellectual, spiritual, and community development. Class 1.

MATH Elective
A College Algebra level or above Mathematics (MATH) 3 credit hour course. Class 3. College Algebra or higher.

THEO 4000 Seminar for Life and Ministry
A seminar course that meets three times a semester, consisting of all departmental faculty and majors. Issues related to spiritual formation for ministry and biblical hermeneutics will be discussed. A BIBL or CMIN major will take the course each semester and receive credit their final full semester before graduation. Evaluation for the course will be based on accumulative participation during a student's residency. Class 0,1.

Fulfill English Proficiency Requirement
All students must demonstrate proficiency in English by passing either the English Proficiency Examination or ENGL 1001 English Review. Completion of this requirement by exam must take place before a student reaches senior status, otherwise ENGL 1001 must be taken every semester after reaching senior status until successfully completed.

Second Semester - Spring 2013

BIBL 1033 Biblical Literature
This survey provides an overall perspective for understanding the Bible within its historical and cultural setting. The course will focus on the reading of significant portions of the Bible so that students may grasp the framework and themes of the Old and New Testaments as well as the relationship between the Testaments. Throughout the course students will also develop skills in interpreting and applying the Bible to contemporary situations. Class 3.

CMWA 2103 Worship Leadership
A study of common worship service components and their delivery, including the meaning and practice of a variety of Church rituals such as preaching, communion, baptism, parent/child dedications, funerals, weddings, and seasonal days. Consideration is given to broadening and deepening students' understanding of the relationship between overall worship service design and individual worship elements, providing a general view of the purpose of worship and the role of the worship leader. Class 3.

ENGL 1023 English Composition II
A study of argumentation/logic and writing for the professions with an emphasis on using the personal computer to plan, draft, and revise written projects. Each student is required to write a fully documented research paper and give oral presentations in class. (This course must be completed before reaching Junior standing.) Class 3. Prerequisite: Completion of ENGL 1004 with a grade of C or better or ENGL 1013..

MGMT 2803 Introduction to Leadership
This course provides an introduction to organizational leadership from a Christian perspective. Students learn fundamental concepts of leadership, visionary leadership, team building, communication, power, and liaison skills. A variety of learning methods, including case studies, role plays, research, role playing exercises, and other experiential methods are used to promote learning of Christian leadership concepts. Class 3. (Spring)

PSYC 2013 Introduction To Psychology
The scientific study of behavior and mental processes. Fundamental theories, problems, and procedures relating to human activity. Biological, social, and cultural factors in development. Topics include neuroscience, development, gender, sensation and perception, learning, memory, thinking, motivation and emotion, stress, personality, psychological disorders and therapy, and social psychology. Class 3.

MKTG 2503 Principles Of Marketing
Foundational course in the study of business where the emphasis is on studying the marketing concept of discovering and satisfying needs for products (goods, services, and intellectual property). The marketing functions/marketing mix of product, price, promotion and place (distribution) are studied along with creating customer value within the marketing environmental forces, constraints of the organizational resources, and a relationship marketing dynamic. The development of a marketing plan for a real product brings all this study to a practical understanding and application, preparing the student for the real world experience. Class 3.

An introductory survey to the fundamental principles of management and the functions of planning, organizing, and controlling. The course provides the student with a basis for thinking about complex business operations as they relate to the management process. Class 3.

PHIL 2013 Introduction To Philosophy
An introduction to the art of thinking with an analysis of philosophical principles and problems, a brief survey of the history of philosophy, and a review of the contributions of outstanding philosophers. Class 3.

Intermediate Foreign Language I

KINE Physical Activities
Offerings include: aerobics, archery, action games, badminton, basketball, bowling, fitness, flag football, golf, racquetball, scuba diving, soccer, swimming, tennis, volleyball, weight training, etc. (Half of semester.) Class 1.

MGMT 3203 Human Resource Management
A study of business manpower strategies, human needs, position requirements, interviewing techniques, technical and human relations, motivation theories, training and wage administration involved in maintaining the work force. Class 3. Prerequisite: MGMT 2303. (Spring)

PHIL 3203 Christian Apologetics (L)
A course designed to study the factuality of biblical Christianity in relation to philosophy, science, and other religions. Attacks upon Christianity are defined and evaluated together with consideration of current debates on the strategy of defending the Christian religion. Attention is given to the place and value of Christian evidences. Class 3. Prerequisites: BIBL 1033 and BIBL 1043.

Seventh Semester - Fall 2015

CCLT 1013 Contemporary World Missions
A survey of missionary endeavor in the contemporary world, the principles of missions, and the Biblical basis for missions. Included also are the relationships between the western missionary and non-missionary personnel and the national church. Class 3. (Fall)

HUMA 1153 Introduction To Fine Arts
A survey course giving exposure to various music and art forms through their historical developments in the western world. Musical forms from classical to modern are explored. Art forms such as architecture, sculpture, and painting are traced from the Greek-Roman period to the present. Class 3.

KINE 1512 Concepts Of Lifetime Fitness
General studies requirement under Kinesiology. The course examines various concepts of health and physical fitness with the purpose of encouraging the student to establish positive patterns of activity and healthful living. Class 2.

POLS 2103 Federal, State, And Local Government
The structure and operation of American government on the national, state, and local levels stressing an understanding of legislative and administrative procedure. Special attention is given to Texas government policy and processes. This course may not be taken for credit by anyone who has passed POLS 2503 or POLS 2603. This course is recommended for teacher education majors. Class 3. Prerequisite: Sophomore or higher standing. POLS 3203 Introduction to Political Science (Spring) may be substituted for POLS 2103.

THEO 4103 Christian Doctrine I
A systematic study of the basic doctrines of Scripture, God, humanity, and sin. This course does not fulfill the Bible elective general education requirement. Class 3. Prerequisites: BIBL 1033, BIBL 1043, one 3000 level Old Testament course, one 3000 level New Testament course, and permission of instructor. (Fall)

Eighth Semester - Spring 2016

CMIN 4006 Christian Ministry Internship
Conducted in cooperation with local churches, Christian organizations, missionaries, or chaplains to offer the student supervised field experience of at least 240 hours with a professional currently in full-time Christian ministry. Students will be expected to reflect upon their experience in a research project. Guided by the instructor, students will choose an experience that corresponds to their degree program and expected field of service. Class 6. Prerequisites: CMIN 2103, Junior Standing, and Permission of Instructor. (On Demand)

HIST 3003 History Of The Church
A survey of church history from the time of Christ to the present. The New Testament church, medieval Christianity, the Reformation, and protestantism in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries will be stressed. Class 3. Prerequisite: HIST 1113 or HIST 1123 or permission of Instructor. (Spring, Even years)

MGMT 4403 Leading Organizational Change
This course presents the topic of change as an organizational element that can be strategically managed. Using the case study method, students learn to identify and modify the dynamics of employee behavior in ambiguous situations to help achieve organizational goals. Class 3. Prerequisite: MGMT 3313. (Spring, Even years)
