A study designed to train students in skills necessary to establish and maintain an effective helping relationship. Basic methods, skills and techniques of counseling such as empathy, paraphrasing, reflecting, clarification and summarizing will be taught using both lecture and experiential means. Students will have the opportunity to practice these and many other basic skills through role-plays, recordings (video and audio) and supervised counseling sessions.
