Engineering Technology The engineering technology programs offer practical application, coupled with a strong theoretical base, to help you reach your maximum potential in your chosen field. Two and four year programs prepare you for positions in industry, sales, management, research, and service in a variety of technical areas.

The Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Technology is an integrated general engineering technology degree with concentrations in Electrical, Mechanical, Materials Joining, Aeronautical-Electrical, and Aeronautical-Mechanical Engineering Technology. Engineering technology is that part of the technological field that requires the application of scientific and engineering knowledge and methods combined with technical skills to achieve analysis and design objectives.

The engineering technology program at LeTourneau University provides a well rounded education that emphasizes the application of engineering and scientific principles. Laboratory experiences throughout the program will provide you with practical practice and hands on experience. You will also learn the applications of mathematics, science, and engineering science, coupled with communications, humanities and social sciences, and Biblical studies.

This well rounded education will prepare you for a variety of technical positions in industry, business, and service organizations that may include work in manufacturing, technical design, production supervision, testing, maintenance, service, and management. Many engineering technology graduates from LeTourneau have also found their education to be valuable for service in Christian missions.

The programs with aeronautical science combine concentrations in electrical and mechanical engineering technology with aircraft systems courses. The combination of engineering technology and aeronautical science in this program will provide you with a solid program that prepares you for technical and supervisory positions in aviation and related industries and organizations.

LeTourneau University provides a unique opportunity for engineering majors to obtain a minor in engineering technology. It is designed to provide engineering students with the opportunity to broaden their education and obtain experience in the more applied areas of engineering technology in addition to engineering design. This minor is available only to students majoring in engineering.

LeTourneau University also offers an opportunity to combine arts and science programs with engineering technology programs. For any liberal arts or science major who would like a background in engineering technology, a minor in applied science is available with a wide selection of courses from the areas of engineering and technology.

Design Technology

The Associate of Science degree in Design Technology prepares students for the occupational field of technical design. Computer aided drafting and design (CAD) is emphasized throughout the curriculum, and students learn solids modeling. Graduates are employed by professional engineering and architectural firms, government agencies, and industrial firms to work in drafting, machine design, electrical design, technical writing, municipal planning, and plant layout.

Many design technology students and graduates choose to continue their education and obtain a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Technology. The design technology courses may also be combined with aeronautical science or business administration to obtain a Bachelor of Science degree in Aeronautical Science - Design Technology Concentration or a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration - Design Technology Concentration.
