Introduction to the basic concepts of geotechnical engineering including fundamental soil mechanics theory. The emphasis throughout the course is placed on a practical application of these topics in geotechnical design problems such as flow nets, soil consolidation, and shear strength of soils. The course will also cover basic geomechanics related design topics including foundations, retaining walls and slope stability.
