AVTC 1001   Foundational Concepts Of Aviation Studies Laboratory
Laboratory work to be taken concurrently with AVTC 1003. Provides a practical introduction to the aviation industry. Lab safety, aircraft systems familiarization, aircraft operations, technical publications, tool familiarization, aircraft hardware identification and installation, and precision measurements. Lab 2. Corequisite: AVTC 1003.

AVTC 1003   Foundational Concepts Of Aviation Studies
An overview of the aviation profession and the vehicles used for powered flight. Topics include: attributes of an aviation professional, airman qualifications privileges and limitations, career opportunities, ethics, technical publications, weight and balance from the technician's perspective, aircraft configuration, and operational capabilities. A study of the early history of powered flight is also included. Class 3. Corequisite: AVTC 1001. Prerequisite or Corequisite: AERF 1103.

AVTC 1401   Aircraft DC Electricity Laboratory
Experimental practice exercises in the wiring of DC electrical circuits including series, parallel, series parallel, and complex circuits. Emphasis is placed on schematic diagram interpretation, multi meter use, basic soldering, and circuit fault isolation. Lab safety is emphasized throughout the course. Lab 2. Corequisite: AVTC 1403.

AVTC 1403   Aircraft DC Electricity
Principles of electricity covering direct current circuits, electrical units, Ohm's law, Kirchhoff's voltage and current laws, and solutions to complex circuits using Thevenin's theorem and loop equations. Inductance, capacitance, magnetism, electromagnetism, induction, troubleshooting principles, and AC are also introduced. Class 3. Corequisites: AVTC 1401 and MATH 1203.

AVTC 2211   Aircraft Metal Structures Laboratory
Practical application of repairs to aluminum aircraft structural components. Lab 5. Corequisite: AVTC 2213.

AVTC 2213   Aircraft Metal Structures
A study of materials, methods, and procedures used in the construction and repair of aircraft structures. Emphasis is placed on stress in various aircraft structural designs and on corrosion theory, identification, and control. Class 3. Prerequisites: AVTC 1001, AVTC 1003, AVTC 1401, AVTC 1403, and MATH 1203. Corequisite: AVTC 2211.

AVTC 2231   Introduction To Aircraft Systems Laboratory
Practical applications involving the disassembly, inspection, and maintenance of various aircraft system components including hydraulic and pneumatic systems, landing gear and brake systems, fire warning and control systems, and environmental control systems as used in General Aviation aircraft. Lab 4. Corequisite: AVTC 2232.

AVTC 2232   Introduction To Aircraft Systems
A study of the theory, components, and operation of various aircraft systems used in General Aviation aircraft including hydraulic systems, landing gear and brake systems, pneumatic systems, fire warning and control systems, and environmental control systems. Class 2. Prerequisites: AVTC 1003, AVTC 1401, AVTC 1403, and MATH 1203. Corequisite: AVTC 2231.

AVTC 2431   Powerplant Electrical Systems Laboratory
A practical application of electricity involving the overhaul, testing, and installation of aircraft magnetos, generators, starters, voltage regulators, and battery servicing. Lab 4. Corequisites: AVTC 2433 and AVTC 2603.

AVTC 2433   Powerplant Electrical Systems
A study of aircraft engine ignition systems, starters, generators, voltage regulators for turbine and reciprocating engines, and storage batteries. Class 3. Prerequisites: AVTC 1003, AVTC 1401, AVTC 1403, and MATH 1203. Corequisites: AVTC 2431 and AVTC 2603.

AVTC 2441   Airframe Electrical Laboratory
A practical study of aircraft wiring, including power and control circuits, and the physical aspects of the circuits. Includes aircraft load analysis, Federal Aviation Regulations, and AC theory. Lab 4. Corequisite: AVTC 2443.

AVTC 2443   Airframe Electrical
A study of aircraft electrical systems, system installation, maintenance, and problem analysis. Includes AC theory, DC and AC power distribution systems, and AC generation systems. Class 3. Prerequisites: AVTC 1003, AVTC 1401, AVTC 1403, and MATH 1203. Corequisite: AVTC 2441.

AVTC 2601   Introduction To Aircraft Reciprocating Engines Laboratory
The student will learn how disassemble, clean, inspect, reassemble, and run-up an aircraft reciprocating engine in accordance with appropriate FAA and manufacturer's standards and practices. Lab 5. Corequisites: AVTC 2431, AVTC 2433, and AVTC 2603.

AVTC 2603   Introduction To Aircraft Reciprocating Engines
Introduction to the various components and systems used in aircraft internal combustion reciprocating engines as well as the theory of operation. Class 3. Prerequisites: AVTC 1003, AVTC 1401, AVTC 1403, and MATH 1203. Corequisites: AVTC 2433 and AVTC 2601.

AVTC 3211   Transport Category Aircraft Systems Laboratory
A practical application of transport category aircraft systems. Lab 2. Corequisite: AVTC 3212.

AVTC 3212   Transport Category Aircraft Systems
A study of the components and operation of systems found on current transport-category aircraft. Systems covered include fuel, environmental (air-conditioning, pressurization, and oxygen), fluid power, flight control, fire protection, ice control, warning, auxiliary power operations, and systems servicing. Class 2. Prerequisite: AVTC 2232. Corequisite: AVTC 3211.

AVTC 3261   Aircraft Composites Laboratory
Practical application of structural repairs to composite aircraft components consisting of fabric coverings, wood structures, and composite materials. Lab 5. Corequisite: AVTC 3262. (Fall)

A study of wood construction, fabric coverings, and composite materials in aircraft, including their inspection and repair. Class 2. Prerequisites: AVTC 1003, AVTC 1401, AVTC 1403, and MATH 1203. Corequisite: AVTC 3261. (Fall)

AVTC 3461   Aircraft Instrumentation Systems Laboratory
A practical application of aircraft powerplant and flight instrument, including inspection, installation, testing, and regulations. A thorough understanding of AC and DC electrical theory is required. Lab 4. Corequisite: AVTC 3462. (Fall)

AVTC 3462   Aircraft Instrumentation Systems
A study of the basic principles of measurement as they apply to aircraft instruments and instrument systems. Pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical/electronic instrumentation as well as applicable FAA regulations are discussed. A thorough understanding of AC and DC electrical theory is required. Class 2. Prerequisites: AVTC 2433, AVTC 2443, and MATH 1252. Corequisite: AVTC 3461. (Fall)

Introduction of the basic aircraft gas turbine engine and its application to modern aircraft. Includes varied engine operations and parameters. Class 2. Prerequisite: AVTC 2603.

A practical application of advanced aircraft reciprocating engine topics. Lab 4. Corequisite: AVTC 3632. (Spring)

A study of propeller theory, classification, and nomenclature. This includes the operating and troubleshooting principles of various propellers and their control systems. Class 2. Prerequisites: AVTC 2603 and MATH 1252. Corequisite: AVTC 3661. (Spring)

AVTC 4021   Aircraft Inspections Laboratory
Supervised practical shop experience in a professional setting maintaining U. S. registered aircraft under the Federal Aviation Regulations. A minimum of 60 hours of work experience, written reports, and a practical exam are required. Lab 4. Prerequisite or Corequisite: AVTC 4022. (Fall)

A detailed study of Federal Aviation Regulations as applied to aircraft inspections and airworthiness as well as inspection technique and procedure. Includes FAR 91, 135, and 121 operations. Class 2. Prerequisite: Last year of AVTC courses. (Fall)

The practical application of aircraft weight and balance procedures, rigging of aircraft controls, and general line maintenance. Lab 4. Corequisites: AVTC 4282. (Summer)

A study of the assembly and rigging of aircraft and their control systems. Consideration is given to structural integrity and flight characteristics.
