Marketing is a central focus of each element of a small business or vast enterprise. The marketing concept begins with the needs and wants of consumers and then develops appropriate products or services through research, development, and design. These are then produced and delivered to the customers and feedback generated to constantly improve the company's performance. In today's environment this necessitates strategic planning, constant qualitative and quantitative research, utilization of current technology (including e-commerce), and a global perspective.

Many career options are available to marketing graduates. Some choose marketing management positions in large corporations, while others choose careers in sales and sales management. Others accept positions in multimedia advertising agencies, public relations departments of corporations, e-commerce businesses, and marketing research companies. Marketing internships prove to be very helpful in preparing students for their careers.
