Footprints of R.G. LeTourneau

As part of the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Engineering and Science Center, LeTourneau students, faculty and staff got a rare chance to take a close look at a LeTourneau L-1100 front-end loader.
The L-1100 sports a 1050 or 1200 HP Diesel engine, and has a carrying capacity of 33 tons. Each wheel is powered by an individual electric motor, in the fashion pioneered by R.G. LeTourneau. The mobility and adaptability of the L-1100 have made it a popular workhorse in mining operations around the world. More information is available at http://www.letourneau-inc.com/l1100.htm.
Those who stayed after the ceremony also got a brief chance to see the L-1100 in motion, as a crew returned it to the LeTourneau plant.
