SAFECON Region IV - 2009 Results
Hello everyone! Thanks for all of your support and prayer this past week! We had a great time
competing at the Region IV SAFECON, hosted this year by Delta State University in Cleveland, MS.
Although the weather was pretty lousy for the first couple days, we did get to fly in the landing
and message drop competitions on Friday (unfortunately, the navigation event and the last heats of
message drop had to be canceled because the weather took so long to clear up).
The complete official results have been posted to the NIFA website
[Here]
Because of the cancellation of the navigation event (typically our highest-scoring flight
event) in addition to the poor East Texas weather throughout the weeks leading up to competition
(which canceled most of our landing event practices), this year's first place win really came down
to our outstanding ground event performance. Despite placing fourth in flight events, we still
earned more points overall than every other team. Excellent work, Sting!
