  • Computer Lab
    • As a student in the electronic navigation and flight control systems course, you’ll spend several hours a week in our computer lab learning the ins and outs of the flight management system and autopilot control panel used in the Bombardier Regional Jet (CRJ). This is the same computer training software used by many of the airlines flying the CRJ. It’s also used for pilot and technician courses. Stand out from the crowd. We train our students using the same software the airlines use to train their technicians.
  • Simulations Lab
    • Frasca G-1000 Mentor
      These simulators let you practice flying with both feet on the ground. G-1000 is the glass panel avionic equipment on all our aircraft. They even have the rudder pedals and toe brakes!
    • Frasca DA-42
      Our Frasca DA-42 FTD simulates our new Diamond DA-42, twin-engine aircraft. We use it for our instrument flight and multiengine flight training. It’s as close as you can get to the real thing!
    • PCATDs
      Our eight Personal Computer-based Aviation Training Devices (PCATD) are used in our private pilot and instrument rating lab courses. Use the PCATDs when you need to practice basic maneuvers and procedures for flight training.
  • Avionics Lab
    • Take a deeper look at different aircraft electronic systems used in aircraft. That includes communication radios, navigation radios, transponders, GPS systems and radars. Test boxes allow us to test all of our equipment.
  • VFR Tower Lab
    • Take advantage of the 2 ATTower high fidelity simulators to practice phraseology, situational awareness, and procedures in the ATC tower environment. Learn more...
  • Radar Lab
    • Experience practical TRACON training in the 10-position ATCoach radar simulation lab equipped with voice recognition and voice automated simulation. Learn more...
  • Gas Turbines Lab
    • The gas turbine lab familiarizes you with large engines like our GE CF-6 and small turbine engines like our Allison 2505. You will perform a “hot section” inspection on our Pratt and Whitney PT-6 engine and then run a PT-6 engine on our King-Air.
  • Reciprocating Engines Lab
    • Ready to rip ‘n tear? You’ll tear an aircraft engine down to its basic parts, reassemble it and then test-run it in our state-of-the-art engine test facility. Disassemble, reassemble, run and repeat.
  • Technical Library
    • You’ll be up to your eyeballs in aviation manuals, issues of Aviation Trader and Aviation Week magazines. The library also has lots of books to help you with research, labs or flight planning. The foundational concepts course requires students subscribe to Aviation Week and Space Technology to get a real life look at what’s going on in the industry.


  • Cessna 172s “Skyhawk” (five)
    You’ll fly this plane mostly during commercial and instrument flight classes.
    • Features: Garmin G-1000 glass cockpit, basic trainer, single engine, gas reciprocating engine.


  • American Champion “Citabria” (six)
    The Citabria lets you perfect your aircraft control while building primary flight skills. This is the first airplane you will fly at LETU.
    • Features: smaller aircraft, tail wheel aircraft, fabric covered, seats two people.

  • Cessna 206 "Stationaire" (one)
    This one’s a challenge. It’s typically used for mission aviation training and is a high-performance aircraft.
    • Features: heavy, single engine, 300-horsepower engine.
  • Diamond DA-42 Twin Star (two)
    You’ll fly this techy aircraft for your multi-engine flight training.
    • Features: modern carbon composite airframe, twin 100LL fuel burning Lycoming IO-360 180-horsepower engines and Garmin G1000 glass flight deck.

The “Yard”

  • A Raytheon U-21 King-Air
    • Perform typical engine and propeller adjustments to this “ turbo-prop” airplane in Advanced Aircraft Gas Turbine Engines lab. Then run the airplane to check your work.
  • T-39A North American Saberliner
    • Troubleshoot electrical problems and learn to remove and reinstall jet engines.
  • Piper PA28R-200 Arrow
    • Run the 200-horsepower engine in our Advanced Reciprocating Engines Lab. In Assembly and Rigging Lab, you’ll perform a simulated annual inspection (which includes a landing gear retraction) on this aircraft.
  • American Eurocopter AS-350 Star Helicopter
    • See how all the components of one of the most popular helicopters in the world fit together. Outside of LETU, this aircraft is used in law enforcement, sightseeing, rescue missions and news media.
  • Beech Baron
    • Using this aircraft, you’ll learn lots of different systems including pito static systems, instrumentation systems, engines, magneto timing, propeller work and control configuration.
  • General Electric CF-6 Turbo Fan Engine
    • Ever heard of borescoping? In the aviation world, it’s when you stick a scope into the innards of an aircraft to see the inner parts of the engine (without taking the whole thing apart). This large turbo fan engine off a DC-10 helps you learn all about large turbine engine parts, inspecting components and borescoping.


  • Pratt & Whitney PT-6 Turbine Engine
    • This cutaway shows all the components of an engine. During lab, you'll disassemble one (including the propeller) and do a “hot section” inspection.
  • Rockwell Collins Flight Deck Avionics System
    • Get familiar with the electrical system necessary to wire up a business jet avionics package.
  • Hughes 269A Helicopter
    • This small gas-reciprocating helicopter is often used in summer courses.
  • Williams FJ-44 Turbo Fan Engine (in the Marty Donner Test Facility)
    • This Cessna Citation I jet engine is mounted on a stand and gives you experience working on a small turbo fan engine.
